Title: I ran for Joan and finished!
Location: Dublin, Ireland
Description: Was it easy? No. Was it fabulous? Yes. Especially the last 800m with the crowd going wild around Trinity College, cheering as if all of us were Olympians about to set a world record. And then Jon and Lex appeared… screaming their heads off with about 600m to go. And then they started running with me with Jon trying to catch the insanity on tape. So much more to come, but just wanted you to know I survived and loved every minute of it (almost… thinking of Mom kept me going). Thanks to all of you for your support!

Title: 2 Days to Race Day
Location: Dublin, Ireland
Description: Time to get my bib! We drove from County Wicklow to Dublin City Centre this morning and I picked up my race number at RDS (Royal Dublin Society… a convention center of sorts). I was smiling and nervous all at the same time. The young woman who handed me my race bag smiled and asked me if I was American. When I said yes, she grew very excited and said she could tell from my accent. Love these people!

Title: Easy few miles, touring a very old monastery, and gorgeous gardens
Location: Ashford, Glendalough, and Powerscourt
Description: After a hilly run, we had a hearty breakfast and hit the road toward Glendalough, a monastery founded by St. Kevin in the 6th century. Then it was off to Powerscourt, a former aristocratic mansion with unbelievable gardens (the best in Ireland, they say). What a contrast… ancient ruins of a monastic settlement vs. 16,000 acres of perfectly kept grounds at the steps of a stately mansion.

Title: We’re here!
Location: Ireland
Description: We arrived at the Dublin Airport and were greeted by the typical chilly, rainy morning weather. After an adventurous (to say the least) ride through the narrow roads of the Wicklow Mountains, we reached the B&B where we would spend our first two nights. Ballyknocken House is in Ashford, not far from the coast. Sheep grazed outside our window and roosters greeted us several times a day as we entered and exited our apartment over the inn’s cooking school. Breakfast was wonderful and Sharon and Julia took such good care of us. A cozy place with 4 TV channels and no internet. Fabulous!

Title: Taper Time… only had to do 15
Location: Delaware Canal
Description: Jon asked me yesterday how many I had to do today. I told him 15. He laughed it off… said “no big deal.” After 20 last week, I have to admit, it felt pretty short. Weird.

Title: Ran 20+
Location: Delaware Canal
Description: They say if you run 20 miles, you can do a marathon. Well, today I did the 20… and though it wasn’t easy, it convinced me that I can do this crazy thing in Ireland in a couple weeks — with your prayers (and Mom’s, of course).

Title: Thank goodness for Olivia
Location: Stone Harbor and Avalon, NJ
Description: I had to do 16 today and even though I got out by 7am, it was really hot. As I reached the end of mile 12, I honestly didn’t know how I would pull off the final 4. But my niece Olivia didn’t let me down. She was waiting for me as promised and joined me for the last few miles. Love you, O.
